We are so thankful for the skills and interests our son, Tyler, has gained as a result of music therapy sessions with Cindy. She began working with Tyler eight years ago. When she began working with Tyler he was pretty much nonverbal. Through her unique approach she was able to help him make connections with his language. Now, he is thirteen years old, still growing and learning in music therapy. He has since learned how to play the piano. He has played in two recitals and continues to entertain family with his beautiful music. We will forever be grateful to Cindy for showing him his talent.
I have worked with Cindy since she was an early childhood educator at John Paul II Center and have been impressed by her ability to work with a group of multiply challenged youngsters with widespread abilities. She is able to combine her musical knowledge and talents, education and teaching skills and her knowledge about sensory processing and motor development to help children learn about themselves and their worlds and to interact with adults and peers as well. Cindy’s creativity is evident in her ability to modify lessons to fit the ability levels of the children with whom she works. It is a dream to work with her.

Starting music therapy with Cindy is one of the best things I have done for my boys. They really enjoy it. The best part is that they are working on communication and social skills and don’t even realize it because they are having such a good time! Cindy is a wonderful person and she genuinely cares for all of the children she works with, and I believe that is part of the reason they do so well with her. I don’t think that there is anyone who can get the attention of either of my boys the way Cindy can!
Ms. Long has been responsible for incredible outcomes with our adult consumers here at New Horizons…She continues to amaze me with how she adapts to each consumers level of functioning...I have seen the interaction between her and our consumers has increased their self-esteem and offered them the opportunity to stimulate their short and long term memory.
